Cleaner Streets in Huddersfield Town Centre
On the 5th of April, a series of essential deep street cleans began in key spots in Huddersfield Town Centre. As we are now moving towards the ease of the Lockdown, Huddersfield BID are keen to welcome businesses and visitors back to a clean town centre, giving the people something to be proud of.
During this uncertain time, now more than ever it is important to keep the streets clean and safe. Following a second public perception survey carried out by Huddersfield BID consumers and businesses said that by having cleaner streets they will feel comfortable to visit the town centre. The areas undertaken by the street cleans will be St George’s Street, full length of Market Street, Ramsden Street, High Street, Queen Street, Macauley Street and the Courtyard at The Lawrence Batley Theatre. Previously the areas undertaken during this project were the full length of King Street, New Street, John William Street and Westgate as well as sanitising key hotspots throughout the BID area.
Huddersfield BID will continue with the project by implementing window vinyl’s, street art, reporting of graffiti and loose paving slabs in key locations in and around Huddersfield Town Centre to promote a safe and attractive place to be.
Huddersfield BID manager, Matthew Chapman comments, “One of the clear indicators that businesses called for in the BID business plan was cleaner streets. What better time to do this than just days before non – essential retail and outside hospitality reopens”.
